FINANCIAL
TRANSPARENCY
TAXES
Transparency is one of our core values at KIDS MATER TOO. Our tax year is January 1st - December 31st.
At the conclusion of each year, we will publish the following on this page:
-
Annual Impact Report
-
IRS Form 990 [required for 501(c)(3) organizations]
-
Accounting Ledger
We will soon be registered with Charity Navigator, an organization that uses a comprehensive scoring system to rate charities. We will publish our rating here with a link to our Charity Navigator page.
Candid's GuideStar
We are registered with Candid's GuideStar. Similar to Charity Navigator, Candid is an organization that evaluates the transparency and impact of nonprofit organizations. Candid's GuideStar awards charities with seals of transparency based on a detailed review of their financial disclosures and operations. We have received the Silver Seal of Transparency and will be eligible for the Gold/Platinum Seal at the end of our first tax year (December 31, 2024).
Maximizing Donations to KIDS MATER TOO
To achieve our goal of maximizing each dollar we receive, everyone who assists with KIDS MATER TOO, including board members, will do so as volunteers. We have also opted out of establishing a brick-and-mortar location, which would see a portion of donations spent on rent, utilities, etc.
Who, What, and How We Fund
KIDS MATER TOO ONLY funds DMG research projects at academic research institutions. To ensure objectivity, funding decisions are made utilizing a double-blind peer review process. This means neither the applicants nor the scientific review board members know each others' names and affiliations. To do this, an outside party removes all identifying information from the applicants' submissions. To read more about our review process,
see GRANT REVIEW PROCESS.
